Las Vegas Know-It-All travel agent Sarah Cheetham from Flight Centre Port Melbourne came back from her second trip to Las Vegas last November.

Sarah thinks Las Vegas was even better the second time as “it is definitely a destination you can go back to again and again”. One of her favourite things was the view from the Ghost Bar at Palms “the outdoor deck has breathtaking views over the city lights of Las Vegas – and you can sip a cocktail at the same time!” she says

Scenic Getaways

WebThere’s more to Las Vegas than neon lights and monolithic hotels. The city is a gateway to a wide range of scenic attractions and adventure activities. Here are just some day trip options:

Grand Canyon: Only a half-day drive or one-hour flight away, Las Vegas is the ultimate base for anyone wanting to take in the grandeur of one of the world’s natural wonders.

Hoover Dam: If anything can make a Las Vegas resort look small, it is the majestic Hoover Dam. This engineering marvel is just 60 kilometres southeast of Las Vegas on the Nevada/Arizona border making it an easy drive from the neon city.

Lake Mead and Boulder City: Lake Mead is North America’s largest man-made lake and only 40 kilometres from Las Vegas, at its closet point. 880 kilometres of shoreline provide year-round opportunities for swimming, waterskiing, camping and fishing.

Red Rock Canyon: Just 24 kilometres west of Las Vegas lies the stunning Red Rock Canyon, named for the striking red sandstone formations.
